Vintage wooden-shaft ice axe marked “Big White” and “BRIGHT.”
The exact manufacturer and production period are unknown.
The metal head has a classic straight pick and adze design, paired with a natural wooden shaft and long metal spike.
The shaft is marked with the Japanese characters “成岡” (Naruoka). This appears to be a former owner’s name, but the exact background of the marking is unknown.
An interesting vintage mountaineering tool with an unusual and difficult-to-identify marking.
It would make a nice collectible or display piece for enthusiasts of vintage climbing equipment, traditional ice axes and Eispickel.
