Vintage Chouinard-Frost adze ice axe / short ice tool from the 1970s.
This is a rare Chouinard-Frost with a short wooden shaft, adze head, curved serrated pick, and shoulder sling.
The head is clearly marked “Chouinard-Frost” with the Diamond C mark.
The reverse side is marked “CAMP,” “INTERALP,” and “MADE IN ITALY.”
The Chouinard-Frost name is closely connected with the early history of modern ice climbing equipment.
This short ice tool style reflects the transition period when alpine and ice climbing tools became shorter, more technical, and more specialized for steeper terrain.
