PRODUCT INFORMATION
The BOSS PS-2 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay, released in 1987, was BOSS’s first compact digital pitch shifter and delay unit.
Production Period: 1987–circa 1994
Features: Combines a digital pitch shifter and digital delay in a single unit. Modes: 6 modes total (3 pitch shift modes, 3 delay modes)
Pitch Shift: MANUAL (in semitones), +1 octave, -1
Octave Delay: 125 ms, 500 ms, 2 s (up to 2,000 ms)
Early Digital Character: Characterized by the slightly rough and grainy sound typical of 8-bit early digital equipment, it has been re-evaluated in recent years amid the vintage digital boom.
Unique Behavior: The quirky oscillating sounds produced by maxing out the feedback are highly prized by some enthusiasts.
Differences from Modern Models: While it falls short of its successors (such as the PS-5 and PS-6) in terms of responsiveness and pitch accuracy, it remains a unique choice today for ambient and experimental music that seeks a lo-fi texture.
