Written in direct response to the Nazi regime's notorious 1937 Entartete Kunst ("Degenerate Art") exhibition in Munich, this is art historian and critic Oto Bihalji-Merin's defence of modern German avant-garde movements which were being condemned by the Nazis. Illustrated with 32 photogravure plates. 

The front cover states "The author is a very well-known German art critic who for special reasons must hide his identity under the name of Peter Thoene". 

Condition

Good condition for age. Some tanning and creasing to the covers but remaining in strong readable condition.
