This original illustrated newspaper contains an inside full page engraving and text with coverage of the INAUGURATION of JEFFERSON DAVIS as the first PRESIDENT of the CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA.

Jefferson Davis was inaugurated as the provisional president of the Confederate States of America on February 18, 1861. The ceremony took place on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery, Alabama.
