Up for auction is a beautiful, matching pair of genuine 19th-century antique French cut steel shoe buckles (also usable as dress clips or sash sliders). Each buckle is crafted with an intricate, openwork foliate and geometric design featuring hundreds of tightly packed, highly faceted micro-rivets that beautifully catch the light with a diamond-like sparkle. The reverse sides feature a soft, plush black fabric backing and a sturdy metal slider mechanism. Both slider bars are crisply stamped with "MADE IN FRANCE", a highly sought-after mark for collectors of antique French metalwork. Condition Report: Please read carefully before bidding. These buckles are in good antique condition given their advanced age, with the following details to note: • Missing Elements: Upon close inspection, there is exactly one tiny cut steel micro-rivet missing near the central scroll pattern. All other rivets appear intact. • Patina & Colour. There is some natural, age-related oxidation and darkening (discolouration/patina) along the bottom edge rows of beads. We have left this original patina untouched as preferred by antique collectors. • Hardware: The fabric backings and metal slider bars remain completely secure, stable, and functional.
