Condition:NEW
A step-up transformer that further enhances musical reproduction while offering ease of use.
This step-up transformer is designed for music, bringing out the full potential of not only MC cartridges but all types of cartridges.
Key Features
An MC step-up transformer that represents a further evolution of the T-550
Supports both balanced and unbalanced input and output
Equipped with “PASS” mode, allowing MM cartridges and high-output MC cartridges to be used without changing connections
Equipped with a new transformer that further enhances musical reproduction
Chassis structure and layout designed to transmit pure musical signals
・Shielding plate to suppress stray magnetic flux
・Floating structure with damping rubber to suppress excess vibration
Gold-plated connectors and contact switches ensure vivid, lifelike playback
・A new step-up transformer that combines exceptional performance with ease of use
You can now choose between balanced and unbalanced inputs.
By adding a “PASS” mode to the step-up transformer—which previously could only accommodate MC cartridges—it is now possible to connect MM cartridges and high-output MC cartridges as well.
XLR terminals have been added to the output, enabling connection to phono preamps that only accept XLR inputs.
・Sound quality has been re-evaluated and usability improved with the adoption of a new transformer!
To reproduce the delicate and information-rich musical signals from an MC cartridge, the signal must first be stepped up to the level of an MM cartridge. While there are amplifiers that use electronic circuits to achieve this, Phasemation’s top recommendation remains step-up via a transformer. This is because, in addition to providing ideal impedance matching, the absence of a power supply eliminates a source of noise—a major advantage. Within Phasemation’s step-up transformer lineup, the T-550 was a mid-range best-seller. The T-600 is a newly designed version of the T-550 that has been further refined for ease of use.
Design Focused on Sound Quality
● New Transformer Designed with a Thorough Focus on Sound Quality
We reviewed the manufacturing process for the transformer—the heart of the T-600—and implemented precise process improvements, such as managing wire tension during winding. As a result, the T-600 features an evolved new transformer with richer expressiveness.
● Support for Balanced and Unbalanced Input/Output
Both the inputs and outputs feature one channel each of balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) connections. We use Neutrik connectors for the XLR terminals and gold-plated terminals for the RCA pins to ensure high sound quality. While the T-550 did not allow for input selection, the T-600 now lets you choose between balanced and unbalanced inputs.
● Equipped with “PASS” Mode, Compatible with Both MM and High-Output MC Cartridges
Previously, the T-550 could only accommodate MC cartridges. In particular, if the connected pre-main amplifier had only a single PHONO input, you would have had to reconfigure the wiring. With the T-600, however, you can pre-connect an MM cartridge and use it simply by selecting “PASS” via the input selector. Furthermore, while some high-output MC cartridges do not require a step-up transformer, these can also be connected just like MM cartridges. Furthermore, while it is uncommon in Japan to use balanced connections for MM cartridges, if the turntable’s cable is set up for balanced connection and you switch to an MM cartridge for listening, you can use it without having to change the wiring.
● Chassis Design for Transmitting Pure Musical Signals
Despite its compact body, it not only houses a transformer but also features a shielding plate to suppress stray magnetic flux. Additionally, to minimize unwanted vibration, the transformer
