Vintage HOPE TOKYO “Très bien” ice axe from Japan.
This is a vintage Japanese mountaineering ice axe made by HOPE TOKYO.
The model name “Très bien” means “very good” or “excellent” in French.
The head has a distinctive wide adze shape, reminiscent of classic European ice axes from the mid-century era.
The item features a wooden shaft and comes with a leather head cover.
The metal head shows age-related patina, scratches, rust, and wear, giving it a very attractive vintage appearance.
According to reference material, this type of HOPE TOKYO “Très bien” model is believed to have been sold around the late 1950s to 1960s.
