Marius Bessone and his wife Huguette established their Vallauris workshop in 1954 and became known for distinctive ceramics incorporating incised decoration, geometric designs, and innovative glaze techniques.

The domed vase features a stunning, deeply incised sgraffito leaf/pod motif on the top, perfectly framing the functional stem holes. Its sophisticated minimalist palette pairs a satin grey-white glaze with rich, unglazed earthy-brown clay detailing.

The base is fully incised with the artist's authentic hand-etched signature: "M Bessone Vallauris fait main" (handmade).

Condition
Very good vintage condition with minor signs of age. There are two small flea bites: one located along the rim of one of the center stem holes and the other at the tip of one of the leaves, which is typical for functional ceramic pieces of this age. Otherwise, the piece displays beautifully. Please see photos for close-up details.
