Rob Thomas The Great Unknown CD 2015 Atlantic 551378-2 Matchbox Twenty
Rob Thomas – The Great Unknown, original 2015 U.S. CD release on Atlantic Records.
This is the third solo studio album from Rob Thomas, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of Matchbox Twenty. The album combines polished pop rock with contemporary electronic and alternative-pop production, featuring collaborations with notable producers including Matt Serletic, Ryan Tedder, Noel Zancanella, Ricky Reed, Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta.
Includes the singles “Trust You,” “Hold On Forever,” and “Pieces,” along with the title track The Great Unknown. The original retail stickers visible on the front jewel case, including the Best Buy $13.99 price sticker, give this copy additional period character as a surviving mid-2010s retail example.

The Great Unknown marked an important stage in Rob Thomas’ solo career: it was his third solo studio album, arriving six years after Cradlesong (2009). It also brought together Thomas with several major contemporary pop producers, including longtime collaborator Matt Serletic and Ryan Tedder.
An interesting detail is track 10, “NLYTM,” whose title is an acronym for “Not Like You Told Me.”
For this particular copy, I would definitely preserve the Best Buy sticker rather than remove it. It is not something that makes the CD extremely rare, but for a collector it provides useful retail provenance and gives the item a very recognizable 2015 U.S. physical-media retail character—especially as Best Buy's role in mainstream CD retail has since greatly diminished.
