This vintage photograph depicts a couple holding hands in front of an Elks Club plaque, with “Welcome to Chicago” in the background.  On the back is handwritten “Elks Club National Convention 1973”.  The item is in great condition.

The 1973 Elks National Convention was a historic turning point. It was held in Chicago, Illinois, from July 15 to July 19, 1973, at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. During this 109th Grand Lodge session, voting delegates officially voted to repeal the "whites-only" clause in their national constitution, opening membership to all qualified U.S. citizens.
