This is a formal prayer bead set for men of the Shingon sect. It is based on 108 main beads, with the addition of 2 main beads and 4 four top beads (tenju). Ten disciple beads (kishi) are placed on each side of the main bead, and dewdrop beads are attached to the ends of the disciple beads. The small bead between the disciple beads and the main bead on one side is called the jomyōju. The main bead on the side with the jomyōju is called the mother bead (ura-oya). The main bead on the opposite side is called the odome (ura-oya). Bonten tassels such as chrysanthemum tassels and kodama-maki bonten tassels are used on them. The material used is the popular ebony. Ebony wood has long been known as a precious wood, and the heartwood used in our products is characterized by its jet-black color, dense, heavy, and solid texture. The tassel is made of a durable, easy-to-handle, and shape-retaining Odama-maki Bonten tassel.
