A rare WW2 1944 Monocular in a leather clad wooden
and metal case - great optics
The N.I.L. (Nottingham Instruments Ltd.)
marked monocular from WWII is a rare piece of British military optical history.
It is not a standard-issue monocular but rather a field or factory
salvage—often crafted by repurposing the intact half of a damaged British Bino
Prism No. 5 MK 5 (7x50).
These trench-salvage and converted pieces feature
the classic "N.I.L." maker stamp, British broad arrow
markings, and O.S. (Ordnance Survey) numbers.
Because of their extreme scarcity, these converted
monoculars only occasionally surface on specialized militaria platforms.
