The reverse portrays his life of public service, his Naval career as an aviation cadet. his term of office as U.S. Attorney General, and finally the New York State Seal representing his Senatorial services. During this time he became a Presidential candidate. The broken laurel leaves (eternity) symbolize the unfinished portion of his life denied by an assassin's bullet. His famous 'Some men see' quote appears on the reverse of the Robert Kennedy medal.
