This Soviet occupation era medal was issued to mothers who qualified to encourage childbirth and increased population in Soviet Romania during the Romanian Socialist Republic era ( 1965-1989) and depicts a 'Mother and Child' with star left on the obverse field within a wreath surround and a depiction of the Soviet 'Hammer and Sickle' on the reverse field with the inscription "Medalia  Maternitatii" around the outer rim at E.F. condition.
