Vintage Thai or Southeast Asian hanging bossed nipple gong with a carved wooden yoke, decorative wood beads and padded mallet. The dark-patinated metal gong features a raised central boss with gold sunburst and concentric line decoration. The gong is suspended from an arched wooden hanger accented with round dark beads and large reddish-brown disk beads. A cord loop at the top allows it to be hung for display. Includes the accompanying fabric-covered wooden striker. The piece is unmarked, so the exact country and maker are unknown. Its construction and design are consistent with vintage Thai or Southeast Asian decorative percussion pieces. It is functional as a small gong while also displaying well as folk-art or global décor.
