Rare and natural grey /brown sunstone gemstone originating from Oregon USA. This weighs 2.95 CTS and has been cut and faceted into an emerald shape. The measurements are approximately 10.7 x 7.6 x 4.7 mm. As with all of our sunstones, this is completely earth mined and untreated.

The piece has very unique coloring, displaying a grey /copper tone. On some angles brown and copper tones are more apparent, and on other angles the gemstone appears more grey or silver. This is caused by an optical effect called pleochroism. Similar to a color change gemstone, although the shift in tones is more dependant on the angle of the gem then a light source.

The stone also exhibits other beautiful visual effects, such as an aventurecent ( Schiller) effect giving the piece a metallic sheen. Bright flashes and sparkles are also evident throughout the entire surface.

The gem is fully transparent and has amazing clarity for a sunstone. Only slight natural variations are found upon magnification. This can be considered eye clean or VVS clarity. This is an ideal size for a ring, but could be used in several types of jewelry applications.
