Edward Egan, former New York City narcotics detective, turned actor, is surrounded by newsmen and onlookers on the steps of Spanish-Harlem's 23rd Precinct, Dec. 3, as he expresses sympathy for police bogged down with paper work. Prior to the news conference, Egan, who appears in the current movie, "The French Connection," turned in his gun and badge at the stationhouse. He was dismissed from the police force last night after being found guilty on charges that he failed to hand in confiscated drugs.Photo measures 7 x 9inches. Photo is dated 12-03-1971.
