Vintage Stanley no 4 1/2 wood plane. Plane has been restored with all moving parts cleaned and well oiled. The brass fixings, adjuster wheel, chip breaker and lever cap have all been buffed to a mirror finish. The sole has been flattened using a granite slab and buffed to 240 grit, the cheeks have also been cleaned and buffed. The handles have been stripped, sanded and had several coats of clear lacquer applied. The horn was missing from the rear tote so it’s been repaired with a piece of Padauk. The blade has been sharpened to 10, 000 grit using Veritas MKII honing guide and then honed on a leather strop so it’s razor sharp. The plane is in very good condition for its age. It’s a type 11 which were made between 1910-1918. Unfortunately not all original. The blade is a blade from a later plane. It takes great shaving, as on an old piece of oak, leaving behind a smooth finish. Plane is excellent condition and is good to work straight away.
