This is an Interesting, SMALL Unframed Original PEN and COLOUR CRAYON drawing, on Paper, by Australian Listed Artist HARRY ROSENGRAVE, (1899 - 1986). It is signed and inscribed lower right, "HAR", and dated 1951.
It is titled "BOATING ON THE BAY", from 1951. It is a Unique Historical piece, as it has come from one of the few remaining Sketch Books of Harry Rosengrave, after a Studio Fire at his home in Hawthorn. Harry Rosengrave, Ian Armstrong and Fred Williams used to go to Lilydale to Draw, Paint back in the 1940's.
It is Brighter than the photo shows, and on White Paper. It is Unframed, and has come from a folio of Sketch work by the Artist. A confident artwork by Harry Rosengrave.
Harry Rosengrave, (1899 - 1986). Painter and Graphic Artist. Studied at National Gallery School, 1941-48, George Bell School, 1946-50. and at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, 1951-59. He participated in joint Exhibitions with Fred Williams, and Ian Armstrong. His work suggests elements of Surrealism, Modernism Typical of 1950's Bell School Students. He won the Caltex Art Prize in 1972. His Art is Represented in many Major Gallery Collections, and Corporate and Private Collections around Australia.
It is in Excellent Condition, on paper, and measures, 5 1/4 inch by 3 1/2 inch, (13.3cm x 8.9cm). (Image size).
