KOREAN PAINTINGS/ CHAOXIAN HUIHUA. 朝鮮繪畫. Pyongyang, n.d. (1958?) 1 sheet of introductions in English and Russian plus 33 loose sheets with either a colour or b/w reproduction of a painting. 29x23 cm. Loose in board portfolio.
A North Korean compilation of 33 propaganda paintings produced in the aftermath of the Korean War. The latest paintings in this compilation are dated 1957 so we assume a publication date immediately thereafter. Imagery relating to the war and other subjects. Captions in English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese. Wear and detached cover to the portfolio, slight creasing to edges of a number of the sheets. Presumably complete as the sheets fit snugly in the portfolio. Very scarce.
