VICTORIAN PURPLE VELVET BODICE JACKET WITH BATTENBURG TAPE LACE, CIRCA 1893, LABEL
Exquisite antique Victorian dark purple tailored velvet bodice jacket with large lapels flowing into back collar decorated with white battenburg tape lace, large puffed full Leg-of-Muffon curved sleeves tapering down to a large cuff, center front hook and eye metal closures and pleated fullness arrangement at back hemline. The interior has a black cotton lining and all of its inner original fully boned stays. Label as to the maker on inner persham reading: Mme. L. Allyn, 147 Halsey St., Bklyn.

CONDITION
All of the original hook and enclosures on the center front are still attached. Small collar detached around neckline, but all there to reattach. Inner underarm shield in place stained but with No underarm staining. No repairs. No fading to velvet. Beige metallic thread floral damask brocade front insert in good condition. White satin lining under collar has shredded in places. We have not laundered this piece and the velvet bodice portion is in overall very good condition.
