Antique Japanese Red Raku tea bowl, hand-formed with a rounded body and a gently irregular rim. The red glaze features grey-green, yellow areas and fine crackle (kannyu). The underside has a relatively wide, fully glazed foot ring with a spiral hand-tool mark at the center. An oval seal is present beside the foot ring, but it is covered by the glaze and not readable.
The overall style closely resembles the Red Raku tea bowls of Raku Tannyu X (1795-1854), particularly in the combination of a red glaze, olive-green and yellow areas, and a finely crackled surface.
