Product Description About the Author Hashimoto Kansetsu Born in 1883 in Kobe City. Under the
tutelage of his Confucian father, Kaiseki, he became familiar with Chinese poetry and prose, and at the age of 12 he studied under a painter of the Shijo school. He
showed his talent early on and worked as a painter, and at the age of 20, he knocked on the door of Takeuchi Suho in Kyoto.
Since then, he has published a series of paintings of historical figures that have added unique interpretations to oriental classics, as well as works on the theme of China, which he has visited dozens of times because he was attracted by the scenery and customs, raising the name of his paintings.
He painted a wide variety of themes, including flowers, birds, people, and landscapes, but he took the world by storm with his animal paintings such as "Genmonkey," which combines beauty and spirituality.
He also has a deep passion and knowledge of landscaping and architecture, and has built a vast Japanese garden with a mansion, studio, tea room, etc. on the side of Ginkakuji Temple in Kyoto, and is currently open to the public as the Hashimoto Sekiyuki Memorial Hall in Hakusha Village.
