About the Josephinenhütte.
The Josephinenhütte was founded in Silesia in 1842 and developed into one of the most important glass manufacturers in Central Europe. It gained international renown through its innovative cutting techniques, artistic designs, and collaborations with leading designers of Historicism, Art Nouveau, and later Art Deco.
The Josephinenhütte reached its design peak in the 1920s and 1930s. Characteristic of this era are clear geometric forms, combined with floral elements and technically sophisticated cutting and etching techniques – precisely those features that this carafe impressively embodies.
After World War II, the Peterdorf site became part of Poland; many original pre-war forms and designs are now considered rare and highly valued.
