Victorian White Linen Turkey Redwork Embroidery Figural Dishtowel Show Towel

This antique Victorian era white linen turkey redwork embroidery figural dishtowel show towel dates from the late 19th century. It is made of a white fine Irish linen fabric with turkey redwork needlework hand embroidered decorative figural design of a couple dressed in 18th century style traditional folk costume walking hand in hand, the gentleman carrying his rifle perhaps coming back home from a hunting trip with oak leaf, acorns and bird picturesque landscape. There is a handmade red and white woven torchon cluny bobbin lace trim edging the top, bottom with drawn thread cutwork. These charming dishtowel splashers show towels were popular hung or draped on washstands. The towel measures 50 inches long, 19 inches wide and the redwork embroidered design is 19 by 12 inches. It is in good condition, with only a few frayed holes on the lace trim (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful piece of antique  Victoriana redwork embroidery art!
