Vintage Silver Plated Monteith Caviar & Vodka Set Cooler 20th C
This is a gorgeous Vintage silver plated Monteith caviar set with a caviar dish and cover in the centre and eight vodka shot glasses around it, dating from the second half of the 20th Century.
It has decorative silver plated sturgeon handles with another adorning the lid of the caviar dish, the rim of the bowl is in the classical Monteith style.
The spacious interior allows you to fill the bowl with plenty of crushed ice to keep the glasses and caviar chilled.
The quality and craftsmanship are superb.
It is truly magnificent and will attract the maximum amount of attention from all of the guests at your next party.
Condition:
In excellent condition having been re silver plated, with no dings, dents or signs of repair. Please see photos for confirmation.

Monteiths are of a similar design to punch bowls. They were conceived in England as a ‘variation on a theme’. Allegedly they were designed by a gentleman called Monteith, who was renowned for wearing a scalloped coat.
Monteiths were originally made with a shaped or notched upper rim, (of similar design to their namesake’s coat). This emarginated rim allowed a punch ladle, tall glasses and a lemon strainer to be held by the bowl. Later this became a removable ’crown’, allowing the bowl to be used as a punch bowl.
