1965 Thailand State Railway national railroad timetable - Southeast Asia

The State Railway of Thailand is the government-owned railroad system that serves this Southeast Asian nation. Founded as the Royal State Railways of Siam in 1890, the system has grown to serve all of the Thai nation.

Most routes radiate out from the capital city of Bangkok: (a) the Northern Line extends 751 kilometers to Chiang Mai, with several branches; (b) the Northeastern Line runs 575 kilometers to Ubon Ratchathni with a connection to Laos; (c) the Eastern Line is 254 kilometers to Aranyaprathat with a connection into Cambodia; and (d) the Southern Line, which has several branches, extends 678 kilometers to connections into Malaysia.

This Railway is not highly regarded, has old and ill-maintained equipment, and seldom runs on schedule. It is, however, an inexpensive means for the people of Thailand to travel and carries over 50 million riders annually.

For auction is a very rare timetable. It is totally in the Thai language, so I cannot describe in detail the contents. I am told it is from the year 1965 and that it lists trains running on the Northern Line, Northeastern Line, and Eastern Line. Listings are by train number, with arrival/departure times for stations served. 

This publication measures appx 9x4 inches unopened and opens to appx 24x18 inches. It is printed on very thin paperstock. The timetable, which is used, is in fair condition. It has no writing or markings, no rips or tears. But it is well worn and somewhat fragile.
