1980 MP Missouri Pacific Railroad - employee timetable # 16

The Missouri Pacific Railroad (MP) was a major US line that served 10 mid-western states (Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas). Organized in 1851, it was merged into the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) in 1997. The UP had controlling interest in the MP for over 15 years prior to the merger, but court actions and issues regarding bond payments delayed the actual merger until 1997. Known as the "Route of the Eagles", the MP operated such famous "named" trains as the Missouri Valley Eagle, Colorado Eagle, Delta Eagle, Valley Eagle, Scenic Limited, and Rainbow Special.
For auction is an Employee Timetable (#16), dated November 30, 1980. It covers the Eastern, Western, Texas and Southern Districts, with all their divisions and sub-divisions. For each line of track, all stations are listed, with station number, milepost number, and any sidetracks. Where trains operate per schedules, the schedules are included, by run number.
There are diagrams and operating instructions for the Kansas City Terminal area. Special Instructions, both unique to specific areas and system-wide, are covered, to include topics such as speed restrictions, grade crossings, qualifications of engineers, passenger equipment on freight trains, engine operations, hump yards, radio use, hot box and dragging equipment detectors, operation on foreign tracks, much much more. There is also a 2-page centerpage map of the MP system.
This is a BIG timetable. It measures appx 9 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches and contains 96 pages. The cover is a very thick and textured semi-glossy cardstock, and the content pages are a heavy, high-quality paper stock. It appears to have been unused and is in excellent condition -- terr are no rips or tears, no spills or smears, no writing or markings, and the binding is secure with all pages firmly in place.
