1971 Seaboard Coast Line Railroad passenger train timetable (May)

For auction is the last passenger train timetable issued by the former Seaboard Coast Line (SCL) Railroad, prior to the takeover of passenger service by Amtrak. It is dated May 1971.

The SCL was a premier passenger and freight carrier, serving the area from Virginia through the Carolinas and Georgia into Florida and Alabama. It operated some of the most famous passenger trains (in conjuction with connecting railroads) between the Northeast and Florida cities. This timetable has listings for all passenger runs on the SCL, both famous named trains and local runs. Listings are by train number, with arrival/departure times for stations served.

The SCL, which was a merger between the Seaboard Air Line and the Atlantic Coast Line railroads, was best known for its trains the "Silver Meteor", "Silver Star", "Champion", and "Southwind". Equipment manifests are provided for these trains.

The publication has a nice 3-page map showing the SCL system and connecting lines, fare schedules, and some great period railroad advertising.

This timetable measures appx 9x4 inches unopened and opens to appx 28x9 inches. It is printed on medium-weight semi-glossy paper stock. The timetable appears to have never been used and is in excellent condition, in spite of the fact that it is now some 40 years old; it has no rips, tears, spills, smears, writing or markings.
