Suzi Chin is a renowned fashion designer whose namesake label, Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique, is produced by the parent company Maggy London. The line is celebrated for bringing high-end, contemporary style to accessible, everyday workwear. Her elegant, figure-flattering silhouettes often feature bold colors, unique draping, and glamorous touches.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in New York, Chin attended the prestigious Parsons School of Design, where she won the coveted Golden Thimble award for emerging designers. Before establishing her Maggy Boutique line, Chin worked at elite design houses and held head designer or design director roles for brands like Vera Wang Bridge, Ralph Lauren, and Betsey Johnson. She focuses on empowering women with clothing that seamlessly blends professional workwear with cocktail and formal glamour. Maggy London was founded in New York City in 1979 by Milton Cahn and Larry Lefkowitz. Named after Cahn's ex-wife, the company began as a luxury silk dress resource and grew into an industry powerhouse. Today, the parent company owns a portfolio of popular dress labels, including Maggy London, London Times, and Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique.

This mid-2000s Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Grecian halter cocktail dress with gold embroidered trim accented with gold medallions is a classic example of the designer’s signature focus on draped, vintage-inspired formalwear. It features a true Grecian-style halter neck that accentuates the shoulders and collarbone. The neckline is held in place with two hooks and eyes, with a slightly open back measuring 7 inches in length below the neckline. Below the opening is a zipper which measures 12 inches in length. Each of the 12 golden medallions on the neckline and waist on the front of the dress measures 3/4 of an inch in diameter. The silhouette focuses on a flowy, heavily pleated, or ruched bodice that mimics classical Greek drapery, and drops into an elegant, pleated skirt. The polyester and spandex blend gives the Grecian draping a heavy, fluid drop while providing comfortable stretch and a subtle matte-satin sheen. It prevents the heavy pleating from wrinkling, while the spandex helps the halter bodice stay securely fitted to the body. It is lined with 100% lightweight polyester to ensure the ivory fabric remains entirely opaque and smooth against the skin. Dry clean only.

This dress is in very good condition with one trim medallion that has loose thread and needs reattachment. There is also a slight pick in the skirt on the front of the dress. See close-up photos of both of these.

A size 8 in mid-2000s Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique dresses typically aligns with contemporary standard sizing but leans closer to a traditional tailored fit. For her polyester/spandex blend draped styles, a flat-laid size 8 has the following approximate measures:
