Description
Passenger train timetable from the former Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad, the RF&P, dated September 29, 1946. The RF&P was a bridge line connecting Richmond, Virginia and Washington, DC; it is now a part of CSX.
World War II had been over only a little more than a year when this item was published. It lists all passenger trains which ran over the RF&P's tracks. Most trains between Florida and the Northeast used RF&P trackage. The RF&P also ran legs of trains that went to the mid-West. It interchanged in Richmond with the Atlantic Coast Line (ACL) and Seaboard Air Line (SAL) railroads and in Washington with the Pennsylvania (Pennsy) and Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) lines.
Among the named trains which the RF&P handled were the Capitol Limited, the Liberty Limited, the Gotham Limited, the Federal, and the Shenandoah. Listings are provided for these trains and the RF&P's local runs also. Listings are by train number, with the arrival/departure times for cities served. Equipment manifests are provided for the major trains.
The timetable measures appx 8 x 3 1/2 inches unopened, and it opens to appx 21x8 inches. This timetable is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It has no writing or markings, no spills or smears, and no rips or tears, only normal aging. For something over 65 years old, it is in incredible shape.
RF&P items are quite hard to find, and this will make a great addition to someone's collection.
