Description
The Northern Pacific Railroad (NP) was a major US railroad that served the north-central and north-western portions of the country, with a small amount of trackage into Canada. It had trackage in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin in the US, plus Manitoba and British Columbia in Canada.
The NP operated several famous "named" trains, to include the North Coast Limited (between Chicago and Seattle), plus the Alaskan and the Mainstreeter. The NP merged with three other railroads in 1970 to form the Burlington Northern and ceased to exist as a corporate entity.
For auction is a passenger train timetable from the NP; it is dated August 18, 1968 and contains listings for all trains operated. Listings are by run number, with arrival/departure times for stations served. There are equipment manifests for the named trains, a schedule of fares, a map of the NP system, and names/contacts for passenger agents.
This publication measures appx 9x4 inches unopened and contains 8 pages. It appears to have had little if any use and is in excellent condition -- there are no rips, tears, writing, markings, spills or smears -- and the binding is secure with all pages firmly in place.
