Description
The Northern Pacific Railroad (NP) was a major US railroad that served the north-central and north-western portions of the country, with a small amount of trackage into Canada. It had trackage in Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin in the US, plus Manitoba and British Columbia in Canada.
The NP operated several famous "named" trains, to include the North Coast Limited (between Chicago and Seattle), plus the Alaskan and the Mainstreeter. The NP merged with three other railroads in 1970 to form the Burlington Northern and ceased to exist as a corporate entity.
For auction is a passenger train timetable issued by the NP; it is dated October 29, 1967 and contains listings for all trains then operated by the railroad. Equipment manifests are included for the major trains. Train listings, which are by run number with arrival/departure times, include both the main runs and local trains, as well as connecting bus services. There is a fare schedule for the North Coast Limited, a map of the NP system, and a listing of NP ticket agent offices.
The brochure measures appx 9x4 inches unopened and opens to appx 9x8 inches; there are eight pages. It is printed on heavy-weight paper stock. Best yet, this timetable appears to be unused and is in excellent condition -- there are no rips, tears, writing, markings, spills or smears.
A great collectible item for the NP railfan.
