Description
The Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company (DL&W or Lackawanna Railroad) was a U.S. Class 1 railroad that connected Buffalo, New York with Hoboken, New Jersey, a distance of about 400 miles. Incorporated in 1853, the DL&W was profitable during the first two decades of the twentieth century, but its margins were gradually hurt by declining traffic in coal, competition from trucks, and high New Jersey taxes. In 1960, the DL&W merged with rival Erie Railroad to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
For auction is a Lackawanna timetable dated November 1, 1951. It lists all trains between Montclair, Newark and New York City. Trains are listed by run number, with arrival/departure times for stations served.
This timetable measures appx 5 1/2 x 3 inches closed, 9 x 5 1/2 inches opened, and is printed on lightweight paperstock. The timetable is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears, writing, markings or folds.
A great collectible item for the Lackawanna or New Jersey railfan.
