Classic 1993 1.3 SPI Mini road/race car.
The mini was owned by a family for several years, It was raced as shown in the photos in the mighty mini series and its ready to race again on a track day or competitively given it features its MSA tagged engine, ECU and full fire suppression set up etc. I love the car, I live in London and work in Sussex in automotive engineering but I’d love someone else to enjoy it for summer. It’s basically used as a go kart going between the pubs of London and then razzed down to Sussex. It’s stiff, sounds good, smells great and is a complete laugh.
I purchased it as a toy for summer given its set up for the track but also features a full UK MOT. Everything works as it should, wipers, wiper washers, horn, rear and front lights, indicators (non self cancelling), single rear fog light, brake pressure check switch/indictor, engine temp gauge, oil pressure gauge. I have tried to show in the photos any main areas of concern, as described in the condition description, it has its racing patina, no real major dents or damage however a few scuffs. It has minor rust and corrosion signs (it’s a classic mini) however the floors have clearly been done at some point and there are no obvious signs of panel failure that I have observed.
The vehicle has the following (that I know of):
- Racing diff
- Full hard mounted fire suppression system (removed the extinguisher for road use but has external pull)
- Optimised injector (for flow rate)
- Additional top engine mount/brace
- Additional radiator for added cooling (bypassing the heater matrix)
- Uprated front brakes
- New rear cylinders and lines
- Full roll cage including side bars (not fitted but included)
- Hi-Low suspension
- 3 sets of wheels and tyres
- Chrome door pulls and winders
- Rear mounted lightweight battery
- Rear mounted Ally 15L fuel cell
- Polycarbonate race windows (drivers slides and passengers drops)
- 12v battery isolator
- 4 new plugs and wires
Additional spares:
- Multiple light lenses (rear + indicators)
- Side arch lips
- 2 wheel hub bearings
- 2 CV boot kits
- 2 additional injector bodies plus injectors
- Fire extinguisher and bracket
- Spare mirrors (still yellow from racing photo)
Features it could benefit from:
- Re connecting the speedo cable, it broke and I never got round to fixing it as i just have my found mounted with Waze, its a simple job, I just haven’t the time to do it.
- Make/purchase some proper bungs for the holes utilised for mounting additional race apparatus i.e Bucket seat
- If continuous use on the road then I would stick some foam/lead sound deadening material in certain places to reduce noise for longer journeys, personally it adds to the joy of it but if your passenger prefers peace it may not be the one.
I think I do own a bucket seat for it and the rear interior, if I can find it then it’ll be included in the sale. NO PROMISES.
Any questions give me a call, if it doesn’t sell I will keep and use at Brands Hatch throughout summer and continue to park it outside the pub. I can arrange delivery if needed.
