The clock features a finely cast gilt-bronze figure of a cherub (putto) leaning against the clock housing. Nearby elements include a snake slithering up the rockwork and a small bird resting atop the dial casing, which are common allegorical symbols from the period.

The white enamel face features elegant, hand-painted black Roman numerals for the hours and outer Arabic numerals for the five-minute increments. The center is signed "Robin / A PARIS", referencing Robert Robin (1741–1799) or his successors, who were highly esteemed clockmakers to the French royal court.
