SKU: KJV1649-JOHN4-LIVINGWATER

A genuine 1649 King James Bible leaf containing one of the most beloved encounters in the Gospels: Christ's conversation with the Samaritan Woman at the Well.

The opening page includes John 4:13-14, the famous "Living Water" passage in which Jesus promises spiritual satisfaction that endures forever. The leaf also contains substantial portions of John 4, including the Samaritan Woman narrative, true worship "in spirit and in truth," the saying concerning the harvest, and the healing of the nobleman's son.

The reverse continues through John 5, including the healing at the Pool of Bethesda, Christ's discourse on judgment and eternal life, and the declaration:

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

Printed in the distinctive typography of the mid-seventeenth-century King James Bible, this leaf preserves a remarkable witness to English Protestant devotional culture during the Commonwealth period.

An excellent display piece for collectors of early Bibles, Gospel passages, Christian history, or King James Version material.
