This fine studio portrait of an earnest young man from the 1920's is a crayon photograph, popular from
1860 to 1920, and usually with an oval frame.   Subtle color may be used to enhance the portrait.  The intact nails and backing paper indicate that the photograph has never been taken out of the original frame.
