Comments

-In Canada, the best time of year to observe the aurora borealis is from October to April.
-Northern Canada is right in the auroral zone where the phenomenon usually occurs. Under the right conditions, however, the aurora borealis can be seen elsewhere in the country. Preferably, the night sky should be clear and there should be little light pollution.
-An aurora borealis occurs when charged particles from the sun, attracted by the Earth's magnetic field, come into contact with atoms in the Earth's atmosphere. It's these atoms that emit different colors, giving the aurora its distinct shades of green, red and purple.
