Large natural and untreated star Garnet cabochon gemstone originating from India. This weighs 34.65 CTS and has been cut and into an oval shape. The measurements are approximately 19.2 x 16.7 x 9.6 mm.
The stone has a vivid 6 ray star caused by asterism. This phenomenon causes a moving star of light to travel across the surface of the stone when exposed to a light source, either artificial or sunlight. There are also another visual effect in the form of small specks of luminecent dots on the surface of the stone. This appears as little white dots in the pictures. This optical feature is best seen in the supplied video.
The coloring is a very deep red. In some lighting conditions the piece may appear almost black, although seen under light it's true red color is revealed. There are some natural inclusions and variations which is typical of untreated cabochons. There is no signs of damage or chips other than a few tiny marks on the bottom of the gem, which should be of little consequence.
