The Voltacon VMI600 is a compact 600W grid-connected microinverter designed for modern plug-in solar installations using a single high-power solar panel.
It converts the DC electricity generated by your solar panel directly into grid-compatible 230V AC electricity, allowing solar energy to be used immediately by appliances within your home.
From 27 August 2026, compliant plug-in solar systems of up to 800W can be used in Great Britain under the new plug-in solar framework.
The VMI600 provides up to 600W AC output, making it particularly well suited to a single modern high-power solar panel.
A 5 metre AC power cable terminating in a UK plug is included.
This provides a convenient connection between the microinverter and a suitable household socket when the inverter is used as part of a compliant UK plug-in solar system.
There is no large central inverter required. The microinverter is installed close to the solar panel and converts the panel output into 230V AC locally.
The VMI600 is designed to work with today's high-power solar modules and is particularly suitable for panels around 600W to 650W.
The inverter continuously adjusts the operating point of the solar panel to obtain the maximum available energy as sunlight and temperature change throughout the day.
The VMI600 includes integrated Wi-Fi monitoring, so a separate Ethernet or PLCC monitoring gateway is not required.
Solar generation and inverter operating information can be monitored remotely using a compatible mobile device and monitoring platform.
This allows you to keep track of your solar production and quickly check the operating status of the system.
Unlike a conventional string inverter, a microinverter operates directly with an individual solar module.
The VMI600 therefore performs maximum power point tracking directly at panel level.

The amount of electricity saved depends on solar generation and how much electricity the property is consuming at the same time.

The VMI600 removes the need for a conventional central string inverter for a small single-panel system.

The VMI600 is G98 compliant and ENA registered for connection to the UK electricity network.
For plug-in solar use, the complete system must comply with the applicable UK Plug-In Solar Device requirements and current installation rules.
Compliant plug-in solar installations of up to 800W do not require prior DNO approval under the new plug-in solar route. The installation must still be registered or notified with the appropriate electricity network operator in accordance with the applicable requirements.
Customers should also check whether any separate property, landlord, leasehold, planning or building restrictions apply to their proposed panel location.
Modern bifacial and monocrystalline solar panels can now produce more than 600W from a single module.
