Fountain pen is decorated with true Japanese Urushi lacquer featuring dark cherry or red wine shades mixed with bright red patches. Overall look is aesthetically balanced. The body of the pen is decorated with mother of pearl inlay also known as raden work.
The raden is exposed to the surface. The texture of every piece can be felt when touched. Its nacre shimmers in pale pearlescent shades of purple, green-yellow, red and white. The red here is flashing from under the raden as it is slightly translucent.
The clip is also decorated in the same Urushi and it is permanently glued to the cap. The clip here serves merely as a roll stopper. Clipping pen onto the bag or shirt pocket is not possible.
As Urushi coating is built in many layers the pen geometry slightly thickened. It can be felt when putting or removing the cap, as it travels tighter than usual. Same goes for threads. I advice to exercise care when handling. As we do not want to damage intricate Urushi work.
Pen comes equipped with magnificent 14k gold Lamy nib, with Oblique medium tip (for right-handed writer). The nib is tuned very well, it writes smooth laying decently wet line.
