1) ITEM DESCRIPTION

This is a vintage Japanese copper lid rest, which is used for tea ceremony. It's called "Futaoki".
This is made of copper. This was made by the 1st class artisan, Kanjyo Yamamoto (1927-) about 40-50 years ago.
'HANE, a shuttlecock of Japanese badminton-like game' is molded.
The original wooden box with the signature of the artisan is also included.
Futaoki is used to put a lid of kettle or MIZUSASHI (water container) on it. Futaoki is one of essential item for tea ceremony or tea party.
