Offered for the first time, from a longtime collection, is this wonderful, rare Japanese Meiji period cast iron Tetsubin (tea kettle) in a pumpkin form with signed bronze lid. Most likely from the 1880s, this kettle is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The rim has three equidistant indents that look formed and are not chips (see last photo). There is some light surface rust on the bottom and the interior.
Measuring about 8” tall and 6” across the widest, it is signed under the bronze lid. We tried several online translators with no luck. We especially like the craftsmanship in the lid’s gourd shaped finial.

Shipping: Buyer pays for shipping. We determine shipping costs by the eBay shipping calculator. Rates vary and are determined by the package, distance, carrier, and service. We normally ship items through USPS. Please use the shipping calculator on the item description to help determine what it will cost the bidder to receive the item. We do not charge for handling or shipping materials unless stated in our item description. If there is an overcharge on shipping please let us know and we will refund the overage. You are paying for what it cost to ship the item. We actually lose a little money on shipping since eBay takes a percentage total payment which includes shipping. So please keep in mind when you are leaving feedback that we are providing the buyer the best possible shipping cost and service.
