2.7" Polychrome Jasper polished gemstone sphere from Madagascar.  This aesthetic 69mm diameter sphere is carved from amazingly colored and patterned Polychrome Jasper.  Also known as Desert Jasper, this form of Jasper was first discovered by geologists in 2006 while searching for the then mined out Ocean Jasper in Madagascar.  Polychrome simply means "multi-colored", appropriately named with the plethora of different colors seen in the stone.  Auction includes a handcarved tripod wood stand as pictured.  A wonderful Polychrome Jasper sphere for display and study.
