VINTAGE POOLE (ENGLAND) SILVER PLATE
CASSEROLE OR VEGETABLE SERVING DISH WITH PYREX INSERT
I have two of these vintage Pyrex
dishes that sit inside English silver plate bottoms and have covers. They are identical except for how the silver
has tarnished and for one number on the Pyrex insert bowl (noted below), so I
am listing them separately. I do not have any silver polish and know little
about silver, so am leaving them as is. They are at least 40 years old and
probably are older. If you bid on and win them both, I will offer a 10%
discount on your final total (not including shipping) but will ship them
together to save you shipping costs.
Wouldn’t your holiday or
celebration table look extra special with just about anything served in this
dish?
1. The Pyrex bowl which is about 8 ¾” in diameter (not
including the handles) and about 3” tall.
Imprinted on the bottom is “PYREX” and the numbers “024” and “2 Quart”
and “14” (The 14 is a 19 on the other dish).
Below Pyrex is “Ovenware” and “Made in USA”. The bowl is in excellent condition with no
chips, cracks, or stains.
2. The bowl sits inside a silver bottom for serving. It is about 11 ¾” wide from rim to rim and
about 3 ½” tall. It has a highly decorative edge (see photos). It has 3 “feet”
on the bottom so the hot bowl doesn’t sit directly on the table. On the bottom
is stamped “EPCA Bristol Silverplate by Poole 122” (The Poole is a little difficult to read, but
I have researched this item and can be pretty sure that’s what it says, and the
EPCA stands for Electroplated Copper Alloy.)
3. The lid, which is not attached, measures about 4” tall
which includes the top handle which has been cast with the lid and not just
attached to it so it won’t loosen or come off.
It is filigreed in a very pretty pattern. The lid sits nicely onto the
pyrex bowl to keep heat in.
I try to describe my items
fairly and honestly to the best of my ability but please keep in mind that I am
no silver expert, so please feel free to email me should you have any questions
at all about them.
If you bid on and win or buy more than one
item/lot I have up for auction this week, if possible I will gladly package
them together and save your shipping costs.
I ship (to US only, please) usually 1 business day after notification of payment. Payment should be made within 2 days of auction’s end unless arrangements have been made between buyer and seller. (#2)
