VINTAGE SILVERPLATE SHALLOW BOWL
I believe this is a shallow
bowl. (My mother served rolls in it at dinners.) It was among the many English
silverplate items my mother collected, so I am also assuming it is silver
plate. I’m not sure how old it is, but she
passed away more than 35 years ago. She
was English so she may have even brought some of the pieces to America when she
married in the 1940’s or which she inherited from her own mother. Any of the
pieces would certainly brighten up any occasion and make it very special.
While it isn’t heavily
tarnished, I’m afraid I know little about silver and have no polish, so I’m
leaving it to their next owners to “clean” them.
· The bowl measures about 13” x 7” x 1 ¼”
· It has a very wide, slightly scalloped rim that ends
in a very pretty cut out section that can act as handles. The cut out design features what looks like a
basket of flowers.
· The bowl has a slightly concave look to it with the
center section being lower and the handle section raised.
· There is a nice pattern on the inside bottom of the
dish.
· I can find no makers’ marks on it.
· There is the remnants of what looks like sticker glue
on the inside bottom. I have tried to
lightly clean it of but was unsuccessful. Outside of this and some minor
tarnishing and wear, the dish is in really nice condition with no dents or
cracks.
I try to describe my items
fairly and honestly to the best of my ability but please keep in mind that I am
no silver expert, so please feel free to email me should you have any questions
at all about them.
If you buy more than one
item/lot I have up for auction this week, if possible I will gladly package
them together and save your shipping costs.
I ship (to US only, please) usually
1 business day after notification of payment. Payment should be made within 2
days of auction’s end unless arrangements have been made between buyer and
seller.
