Description
Up for bids is a vintage Sargent no. 414 jack bench plane that I believe is a Type 4. The plane's bed measures 14 inches long and is 2 1/2 inches wide. The front knob and rear tote (handle) are both in excellent condition with no crack repairs or wood chips. Almost all japanning is present. The 2" cutting iron is marked with the Sargent trademark marking that was used for the type 4 planes between the years 1919 and 1942. The number "414" is cast into the bed below the brass wheel. The lever cap is in good condition. There are no major scratches on the sole and no cracks in the cast iron body. This plane would make a great user or one to add to a collection of Sargent planes. Please see the photographs to determine exactly what you will receive.
