Up for Bids is a Vintage, Cressi-Sub 30" CO2 Cartridge Pneumatic Speargun with Spear Bolt & Cord that I picked up at a local Estate Sale.   This Vintage Speargun measures approximately 30" long from the tip of the grip to the end of the barrel (does not include the spear tip).  This Speargun uses CO2 cartridges to fire but it is untested and being vintage, it is being sold AS-IS without guarantee or return.  There are some scuffs and scratches to the body and the cap cover for the CO2 cartridge is missing.  It is in otherwise in good vintage, used condition as you can see in my photos.  Please ask any questions you may have before Bidding.

The vintage Cressi-Sub CO2 speargun family—most notably the Aer 51 and its successor, the Air 54 (Aer 54)—holds a unique place in scuba diving history. Released in the early 1950s, these revolutionary weapons traded physical arm power for gas expansion, marking a short-lived but highly collectible era of underwater hunting gear.

The Core Models:

• Cressi Aer 51 (1951/1952): This was Cressi's first commercially produced gas-propulsion speargun. It utilized tiny, economical, single-shot CO2 cartridges—identical to the standard metal chargers used for making fashionable seltzer water at the time.
• Cressi Air 54 / Aer 54 (1954): An updated iteration launched just a few years later, modifying the valve systems and overall ergonomics for better reliability underwater.

How They Worked:

• Instead of relying on heavy rubber bands that needed to be muscle-loaded onto notches, or standard modern pneumatics that require manual pumping to create a closed compressed-air loop, these guns utilized disposable gas expansion. The diver would load a metal spear down the barrel until it clicked into the trigger mechanism.
• A CO2 cartridge was pierced inside a dedicated chamber built into the gun handle or frame.  Pulling the trigger opened a valve, releasing a controlled burst of high-pressure CO2 gas behind the spear, firing it out of the barrel with incredible speed and zero loading effort.

Shipping Weight for this item will be 7 pounds and it will be shipped anywhere in the lower 48 States via UPS Ground or FedEx Home Package Delivery Service Shipping.  Shipping Fees apply but no additional handling fee will be assessed on this item.  I am letting the eBay Shipping Calculator determine the shipping cost.  If it looks too high, please message me and I'll try to get a more accurate shipping estimate for you.
